Third graders are learning about Native American totem poles and how they tell a story about a person's culture. They are creating their own totem pole that will tell their story. Stay tuned!!
I am excited to get started on art with all of you! See you soon!
In third grade we are learning how to draw from DIRECT OBSERVATION. Students are choosing various items around the classroom to draw. This can be a difficult skill to learn because our brain "tricks" us into thinking that we already know the shape of something, as opposed to how it actually looks. Our third graders are doing a great job of drawing WHAT THEY SEE....stay tuned!!! Third graders are focusing on the use of rhythm and movement within their artwork. They used a continuous line to create an organic shape, which they then divided up into sections. Within each section they are creating designs that depict movement. Keep an eye out for these works of art in the hallways!
