First graders have been reviewing various lines and shapes and they are creating a unique piece of artwork. They started off by gluing squares of tissue paper down on a sheet of white paper to create a cool background. They are then going to paint a variety of shapes and lines on top of the background. They are doing an awesome job!
I am excited to meet all of you soon! We have a lot of fun projects planned and many new ways of creating art! See you soon!
In first grade we are learning all about PATTERNS and how to incorporate them into our artwork. We created a pumpkin drawing with a HORIZON LINE and VERTICAL stripes in the background. We then used oil pastel to color our designs and painted with watercolor.
First graders are incorporating their writing skills into their artwork in a unique way! We read the following book: We are now in the process of using the written alphabet to create a work of art! Stay tuned!!
First graders have been focusing on identifying lines and shapes within various artworks, and are currently creating their own unique peice of art which incorporates these elements of design. Some of the paintings that they have studied have been by painter Wassily Kandinsky. This is a video of one of our first grade students painting her lines and shapes on the background of her artwork. Below is a clip of Wassily Kandinsky painting lines and shapes. We discussed how important it is to think about our artwork before we begin working on it, and decide where we want to place our lines and shapes in the composition. |
