Fourth graders are experimenting with ebony pencils to create VALUE! They are learning about grey scales and how shading can make shapes appear three-dimensional. Take a look!
I am so excited to begin creating art with all of you! Fourth grade has a lot of exciting projects! See you soon!
We are writing in fourth grade!!! Students have been working on creating a story to be paired with their tree painting. Here is Abby sharing her story, "The Tree of Hope". Enjoy! Students are painting the silhouette of a fall tree across their backdrop of a full moon. Check out some of their work:
Before we venture outside to paint our trees from direct observation, we are learning how to draw realistic tree branches. Here is a sneak peek of the work to come...
Fourth graders are starting off the year learning about value and the importance of using value within their artwork. They have been creating a fall sky, including a full moon. We have been studying pictures of the surface of the moon and learning how to shade the moon to make it look realistic. In the next few weeks we will be adding a tree to our artwork....stay tuned!
Fourth graders have been focusing on value and contrast within their artwork. They are creating a fall sky by using charcoal pencils to shade in the detail of the moon and the night sky. They will then use tempera paint to paint a fall tree against their background, creating contrast within their artwork. We are encouraging students to "draw from observation", meaning they are looking at a tree in front of them as they draw. This is a skill that can easily be practiced at home!
